underwater! again! 🫧

My commute back from work usually takes 1.5 hours, but this time it felt five times longer even though the traffic was pretty okay. All because I couldn’t wait! I couldn’t wait to stare at (and share) these pics that I took during my trip to Pulau Pahawang, Lampung with my colleagues.

The trip was planned in just under two weeks, and my decision to bring an underwater camera was made even more spontaneously. I was super back-and-forth about it, but then I remember the excitement of seeing the results of my underwater camera from my Pulau Payung trip. So I got one the night before we left, a Fujifilm QuickSnap Waterproof this time.

I… love water. I love being in the water and staring down at the lives underneath. I love saying hi to all the fish I swam by although they most probably had zero idea why I was there. I don’t think I’ve seen this many majestic corals all at once, in real life, with my own eyes. This was my first time seeing a bunch of clown fish snuggling glowing, neon anemones. I met half of the Finding Nemo cast.

I love that I got to capture all of that—not merely as a proof, more so as a reminder of the lukewarm water, heavy tides sent straight from the Indian Ocean, smoking at sunset, losing my voice mid-trip, laughing at each other falling from canoes and paddleboard, feet scratched from stepping on seashells, non-stop bickering. Dissecting the layers of the sky and trees from afar, the variety of colors reflected. Now I can look at these photos and the memories will instantly flood my brain.

Pictures taken by me using Fujifilm QuickSnap Waterproof, developed at Ojisan Film Lab Jakarta.
